I was lucky enough to be born into the rather bohemian community of a progressive boys public school as the daughter of a sculptor and a weaver. The life of the community was particularly centred around art, music and theatre. We ran free in the beautiful surrounding countryside, swam in the river and roller-skated down the corridors of the school and threw water through the windows of the boys' studies!
Home life was punctuated by an endless series of visits from colourful artistic figures welcomed warmly by my rather extraordinary parents. I was educated at a nearby convent (what a contrast!), did a spell of voluntary service and found myself at the age of 21 as the production manager for an international suede and leather fashion house. I met and married my husband, a barrister, and have 3 children, one of whom has Asperger's Syndrome.
When my children were small I trained as a Psychosynthesis therapist, studied astrology, became a NLP Master Practitioner, learned to meditate, visited ashrams in India, practiced tai chi, renovated 7 houses from scratch, became addicted to personal growth courses, struggled with the world of Learning Difficulties and Special Needs, and, as a consequence developed a huge sense of humour and a real appreciation that it is not what happens to you in life that matters but how you respond to it. I am now in the process of moving from a house beside Richmond Park to a Dutch barge on the Thames. The long-term plan is to spend a few years travelling the European rivers and canals between here and the Baltic.
My life spans both the creative and professional worlds and I endlessly delight in and celebrate people's individuality and uniqueness whilst at the same time recognising the common themes and challenges that being human brings.
I have 15 years experience of working in the world of personal development. I love working with men and women who are committed to finding their own paths rather than following the crowd. I specialise in coaching people who want to take stock and who want to create interesting fulfilled self-aware lives. That said, I enjoy working with a variety of people and have a very multi-facetted practice!
